CSA specializes in addressing rock and soil slope stability problems (investigation, testing, analysis, stabilization design and construction management), and we also provide geotechnical services for buildings, water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Our goal is to remain on the leading edge of the engineering geologic and geotechnical engineering professions. Our small firm (14 professionals) allows our staff to gain hands-on experience in many different areas, and we encourage professional growth through mentoring, training and participation and attendance at technical meetings and seminars as well as maintaining strong ties to academia. We are currently looking for a staff level engineer with either a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering, or a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering for our Los Gatos office. The successful candidate should have excellent technical and communication skills, have a positive attitude, be hard working and have the ability to drive to and conduct field investigations at project sites. Responsibilities could include exploratory drilling and sampling, engineering analyses, surveying, preparing technical reports, and providing construction observation and testing. Experience with limit equilibrium slope stability analysis, numerical modeling, surveying, drone piloting and photogrammetry, and CAD are desirable, though not required. -

Following site characterization our geotechnical engineers work in conjunction with our geologists to provide our clients with solutions to mitigate the hazards. We are currently looking for a staff level geologist with either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geologic Sciences for our Los Gatos office. The successful candidate should have a strong foundation in geologic sciences (structural geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, petrology, and field methods). In addition, the successful candidate should have an inquisitive nature and be eager to learn new skills, have excellent technical and communication skills, have a positive attitude, be hard working and have the ability to drive to and conduct field investigations at project sites. Responsibilities could include geologic mapping, subsurface exploration (drilling and sampling, logging of trenches and test pits, logging of large diameter borings and test shafts), geologic analyses (cross section preparation, aerial photograph interpretation, geomorphic analysis of hillshade maps, etc.), surveying, installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation, preparing technical reports, and providing construction observation and testing. Experience with GIS, surveying, drone piloting and photogrammetry, and coursework in engineering geology are desirable, though not required.
